A new warehouse and distribution site was recently opened byDuPont Tate & Lyle BioProducts at its manufacturing facility in Loudon, TN, enabling the company to fill and ship an array of packaging sizes.

The joint venture between chemical company DuPont and specialty ingredients firm Tate & Lyle uses starch from plants to produce 1,3-propanediol, an ingredient in polymers and other products.

“Investing in the warehouse and distribution center enables our company to move forward with the industry and allows us to ensure our customers have access to high-quality products in a timely fashion,” said Todd Sutton, president of DuPont Tate & Lyle BioProducts, in a statement.

Prior to the opening of the new facility, only bulk orders could be fulfilled directly from the Loudon manufacturing plant. DuPont Tate & Lyle BioProducts can now fill, store, fill, and ship 1,3-propanediol in smaller packaging like pails, drums, and totes.

The new warehouse has a capacity of 135 million lb of 1,3-propanediol. Another 35 million lb of the product will be added to the site’s capacity next year, the company said.

DuPont Tate & Lyle invested in an expansion of the Loudon plant in 2011, increasing production by 35%.
