January 2, 2020
Dutch health and nutrition products manufacturer Royal DSM wrapped up its purchase of specialty dairy solutions firm Koninklijke CSK Food Enrichment C.V. (CSK) on December 30, a recent company press release announced. The price of the transaction was €150 million (about $165.5 million) in cash.
“The highly complementary combination of DSM’s dairy business and CSK’s business greatly strengthens DSM’s ability to serve the needs of dairy industries worldwide, and makes the company well-placed to address the fast-growing and attractive dairy cultures markets” Royal DSM said in a release.
Plans for the acquisition were first announced in mid-November. DSM said the deal expands its portfolio of products, including taste, texture, and bio-preservation solutions for semi-hard cheeses like Gouda and Edam. Under the terms of the transaction, DSM will take on CSK’s dairy application center and a fermentation facility in the Netherlands
CSK brought in net sales of €65 million during 2018. The firm employs about 180 workers across its footprint.
