The marriage between Dow Chemical and DuPont is not yet consummated, but that has not stopped the couple from announcing their plans for the future.

In a joint press release Monday, the companies named DowDuPont Inc.’s senior leadership team, who would assume their roles if the proposed merger is approved by regulators.

“Today’s announcement of the DowDuPont senior leadership team marks a major milestone in the process to merge and move ahead with our intention to create three, highly focused, independent companies,” said Edward D. Breen, chair and chief executive officer of DuPont, in the statement.

Howard Ungerleider, vice chairman and chief financial officer of Dow, was named as chief financial officer of DowDuPont. He currently oversees Dow AgroSciences, corporate strategy development, corporate planning, finance, information technology and business services, and serves as chairman of Dow Corning.

Dow’s current president and chief operating officer, Jim Fitterling, will become the chief operating officer of DowDuPont’s material science business, which is intended to operate as a separate “independent, pure-play industry leader” if the merger is completed.

The material science business will be named Dow, according to the release, and assume leadership of Dow Performance Plastics, performance materials and chemicals, infrastructure solutions, and consumer solutions, Dow Silicones, and the DuPont Performance Materials segment.

Stacy Fox, senior vice president and general counsel at DuPont, was named general counsel for the merged company. Executive vice president and general counsel at Dow, Charles J. Kalil, will be special counsellor to the executive chairman of DowDuPont.

The leader of DuPont’s agriculture business segment, James C. Collins, Jr., an executive vice president, will serve as chief operating officer of DowDuPont’s agriculture business. The merged company’s agriculture business brings together DuPont and Dow’s seed and crop protection businesses.

Marc Doyle, an executive vice president who leads DuPont’s electronics and communications, industrial biosciences, nutrition and health, performance materials, and safety and protection businesses was named chief operating officer for DowDuPont’s specialty products business.
