American agribusiness Bunge Limited said Tuesday that Robert Coviello will assume the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Growth and Strategy Officer on January 1. The incoming executive will report to the firm’s chief executive officer Soren Schroder.

Coviello will assist Bunge in developing strategy that aligns with new trends and other major drivers of change within the agribusiness and food industry spaces.

“Our industry faces countless opportunities for growth, differentiation, and disruption, and Rob’s appointment to this role will advance our efforts to build on our strengths and further capitalize on these opportunities,” said Schroder in company press release announcing the appointment.

Prior to joining Bunge in 2003, he worked in trading positions at Cargill. Coviello presently serves as managing director of Southeast Asia and China at Bunge, and the executive has held various leadership positions for the company in Europe, Asia, and America.

He attended Dartmouth College as an undergrad and received a M.B.A from Harvard Business School.
