ADM Takes On Another Citrus Flavor Ingredients Firm
March 18, 2019
Following its recent purchase of the Florida Chemical Company, American agribusiness Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is further expanding its citrus flavors-related capabilities and footprint with the acquisition of German ingredients firm Ziegler Group.
ADM signed an agreement to acquire Ziegler on March 15, a company press release announced. This January, Powder & Bulk Solids reported that the company purchased Florida Chemical, a provider of citrus-based oils and food ingredients, from Flotek Industries.
“Zeigler is highly respected as a cutting-edge leader in citrus, and we’re excited to welcome their outstanding leadership and talent to ADM,” ADM Nutrition President Vince Macciocchi said in a statement. “The combination of Zeigler and Florida Chemical will immediately position ADM for growth as a global leader in natural citrus ingredients, with a complete range of innovative citrus solutions and systems for food, beverage, and fragrance customers.”
Based in Aufsess, Germany, Ziegler uses proprietary cold concentration processes to create oils, extracts, concentrates, and compounds for customers in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. The privately-held firm was established in 1963 and primarily serves the food and beverages and flavors markets.
“We’re excited to join ADM and strongly believe that the combination of our technology and citrus capabilities, coupled with the portfolio of ingredients and global reach of ADM, will accelerate growth opportunities while creating benefits for our customers,” Günter Ziegler of the Ziegler Group said in the release.
The companies expect the deal to reach a conclusion in the second quarter of this year.
