ADM Releases New Monk Fruit and Stevia Sweetener Brands
March 17, 2017
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) released two new sweetener brands – SweetRight made with stevia and VerySweet produced with Monk Fruit – sourced through its partnership with GLG Life Tech Corporation, the Chicago-based company announced Wednesday.
“As consumers continue to look for great-tasting, healthier, lower-calorie products, we are pleased to meet formulators’ needs by offering a range of sweetener options that help them meet consumer demand,” Rodney Schanefelt, director of ADM’s Sugar and High Potency Sweeteners unit, said in a statement. “This expansion of our high-potency sweetener portfolio will help meet the ever growing demand for natural, lower calorie, ‘no added sugars’ foods and beverages.”
The new brands join VivaSweet sucralose, the first zero-calorie, high-intensity sweetener offered by ADM, which can be used in “virtually any” food or beverage product, the company said.
“Now, with SweetRight stevia, VerySweet monk fruit, and VivaSweet sucralose available from one global source, formulators have access to even more sweetener options from ADM as they create products to meet the ever-evolving tastes and preferences of today’s consumers,” said Schanefelt.
ADM said its SweetRight offering is clean-label friendly, non-GMO, GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe), and plant-based, and can help reduce sugar contents while maintaining the ideal sweetness and taste. SweetRight, manufactured with a proprietary process, is up to 250 times as sweet as sugar and is available in RA, RA granular, and EMS (Enzymatically Modified Stevia) formats, according to the company.
VerySweet provides sweetness 200 times that of sugar that can be used alone, blended, or as part of a sweetening system, ADM said.
