American agribusiness Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) held a ceremony on Wednesday to mark the opening of a new 8900-sq-ft research hub in Singapore that will help customers in the region develop new, innovative flavors and ingredients.

Located at the Biopolis research hub, ADM’s innovation center includes a food and flavor analytic lab, a customer innovation center, sensory evaluation facilities, a bakery and confectionery lab, a meat and savory lab, and a beverage and dairy applications lab and pilot plant.

“Consumer tastes and preferences are changing, as people look to balance busy lifestyles with healthy eating habits. Our goal is to be the first-call ingredient and flavor experts for customers working to meet those consumer needs throughout Southeast Asia,” said ADM’s president of Asia, Donald Chen, in a statement.

Flavorists and applications personnel, food scientists, and sales, marketing and regulatory staff will work with customers at the site.

“This facility is yet another important step as we continue to enhance our portfolio and our capabilities around the globe,” Vince Macciocchi, president of ADM’s Wild Flavors and Specialty Ingredients unit, said in the firm’s release.
