Heat Exchanger Prevents Moisture Problems in Pneumatically Conveyed Product
Xchanger’s D-Series heat exchanger

Product conveyed with hot air from a pressure blower heats up — which can cause evaporation and condensation (sweating) in storage — leading to caking, clumping, mold, and mildew.

Xchanger’s D-Series heat exchangers solve the problem by cooling the conveying air and preventing the cycle of evaporation and condensation — without requiring costly dehumidification equipment. They’re easy to install and efficient.

The D-Series pictured will be used in a clean environment. In the first stage, 1000 SCFM of air passes through green pleated filter, then it’s cooled and dehumidified from ambient to 45°F using 39° propylene glycol, then air is reheated to 70°F using 90 psig steam, resulting in 70°F, 40% relative humidity air. In the final stage, air passes through a 99.97% efficient HEPA filter in its own housing box to allow faster access and change out.
