Martin Engineering Reaches 500 Days without Lost Time Accident

April 14, 2008

Martin Engineering, an international supplier of systems and services to improve bulk materials handling, has achieved a new safety milestone for its Neponset operations. On April 9, 2008, the Neponset, IL operations of Martin Engineering USA passed its 500th straight day without a lost time injury.

“This means that our Neponset operations have worked more than a year-and-a-third without a recordable injury,” said Jim Roark, safety and risk administrator for Martin Engineering USA.

In addition, the entire U.S. operation, including sales representatives and service personnel working across the county, has now reached nearly 100 days without a lost time accident.

“With only one recordable injury in the more than 130,000 hours worked so far in 2008, Martin Engineering’s recordable injury rate—an established government standard--determined by the recordable injuries vs. hours worked--stands at 1.5, a figure well below the national averages,” Roark said.

“These achievements are a tribute to the dedication to safety on the part of Martin Engineering’s management, the safety committees, past and present, and all the employees themselves.”

Martin Engineering USA’s Neponset operation employs 190 in factory and office positions, with about another 40 employees stationed across the country.

Founded in 1944, Martin Engineering technologies control dust and spillage from belt conveyors and promote the movement of bulk solids from storage and through industrial processes. With corporate offices in Neponset, the privately-held company has operations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey, and United Kingdom.
