Sir Michael made the presentation following a tour of Malvern’s facility during which he talked with people across the company, from manufacturing on the shop floor right through to the boardroom.
Accepting the 2010 Queen’s Award, Malvern’s managing director Paul Walker told the audience how proud he is of the achievements of the whole company. “Malvern Instruments was established some 40 years ago to commercialize a technological innovation, and while we have come a long way since then in building a global and more diversified business, we have certainly not forgotten our roots,” he said. “I believe that winning this award--specifically for innovation--pays great tribute to the vision, knowledge, expertise, and sheer hard work of individuals and teams within our company. However, it’s not only a tribute to those with the technology know-how, but also to everyone in the wider organization whose individual contribution is vital to Malvern’s success.”
