To help the regulated community ensure compliance with the ever-changing hazmat rules, Lion Technology will offer several hands-on workshops on the latest rules for shipping hazardous materials by ground, air, and, ocean. The workshops feature in-depth discussions of the DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR) for ground shipping and the IATA and IMO Dangerous Goods Regulations for air and ocean shipping. Lion’s workshops emphasize the differences between the regulations and the critical components of hazmat shipping, including classification, shipping papers, package selection, package marking and labeling, and recordkeeping. A nationwide schedule is available at www.Lion.com/HazmatShippers.
Companies that ship hazardous materials are required by law to ensure that their products are properly classified, described, packaged, marked, and labeled as prescribed by domestic and international standards. As per the U.S. DOT, hazmat training and documentation of training are mandatory requirements for employees who prepare hazardous materials for transport or sign shipping papers. Fines for non-compliance are now up to $55,000 per day, per violation for civil penalties and up to $110,000 per day, per violation for criminal penalties. Most carriers like UPS and FedEx will refuse any hazmat shipment offered by a company that cannot provide documentation of hazmat training for all hazmat employees.
Lion’s complete Multimodal Hazmat Training program on the DOT (ground), IATA (air), and IMO (ocean) rules will be held in Las Vegas on April 4-7, Denver on April 11-14, and Los Angeles on April 18-21. Lion’s training on the DOT (ground only) rules will be held in Sacramento on April 14-15.
The fee for the two-day DOT workshop is $695 per person. Each additional day (IATA or IMDG) is $495 per person. Save when you register for all three. Registration includes course reference materials, networking luncheon, certificate of achievement, and one year of follow-up support. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and the workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is highly recommended.
