Avery Weigh-Tronix Software Receives International Accreditation

Building on its United States National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) certification gained in 2008, weighing solution provider Avery Weigh-Tronix has announced that it has gained Class A certification for its software development from one of the world’s leading computer science institutions.

The Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI), based in Pittsburgh, has awarded recognition in September 2009 that Avery Weigh-Tronix has achieved Level 3 compliance with the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Model v1.2. Avery Weigh-Tronix product offerings include Measurement Intelligence (MI) Payload software for truck scale operations, which facilitates storage and management of the customer, vehicle and commodity data pivotal for these applications.

Gaining Level 3 Certification places the software development process within Avery Weigh-Tronix at the same level of CMMI compliance as parts of organizations such as Accenture, the Boeing Co., Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Hitachi, IBM, NCR, and SAP.
