Thoren will work to build out ACC’s new field-oriented, campaign-style Political Mobilization Department that will focus on re-enforcing political relationships with key members of Congress in their home states and districts.
“Don brings a wealth of invaluable knowledge and skill to this position from his previous experience in Altria Client Services, SWR Worldwide, the National Restaurant Association, and as a campaign manager for numerous state and national elections,” said Dooley. “His record makes him an excellent choice for this responsibility and I am looking forward to working with him as we broaden our advocacy and engagement of employees, stakeholders, and policymakers at all levels.”
For the past eight years, Thoren worked as the district director-state and government affairs and as the director of political outreach and communications for Altria Client Services. In these roles, Thoren gained valuable lobbying, issues management, PAC development, and grassroots activation experience. Prior to working with Altria, Thoren developed more than 12 years of trade association experience working with SWR Worldwide as the vice president of association marketing and as the vice president of state relations and political affairs for the National Restaurant Association.
