European-owned cooked and frozen pasta, rice and cereals manufacturer Ebrofrost North America and American rice company Riviana Foods Inc. are gearing up to build a new, $3.1 million warehouse at a shared Memphis, TN facility, several local news organizations reported Tuesday.
The company filed an application for a new construction permit for the project, which is the second phase of a $26.5 million expansion effort at the site, an article by the Memphis Commercial Appeal said.
The company’s director of Memphis operations and rice engineering Chris Getsfred told the newspaper that Ebrofrost will open a warehouse capable of storing 9000 pallets. 19 new jobs will be created as a result of the latest investment, according to the Commercial Appeal.
Last year, Riviana completed a expansion at the Memphis plant to increase the site’s capacity for microwaveable rice products.
