“The Columbus Region’s proximity to existing food and beverage manufacturing facilities, the availability of real estate suitable to our needs, and the support of state and local partners all contributed to our decision to open a facility in Heath,” said Ohio Pack Director Mark Kasberg in a statement.
The 135,000-sq-ft facility will be located on a 20-acre site, creating 66 jobs over the next five years. The company intends to invest $13 million toward the construction and about $12.4 million in new machinery and equipment.
According to Columbus 2020, 170 food and beverage manufacturing facilities call the Columbus region home, creating $17.7 billion in economic output each year.
“Ohio Pack’s decision to locate at the Port Authority’s Central Ohio Aerospace Center in Heath brings another rail-served manufacturer to our community,” said Mark D. Johns, mayor of Heath, in a press release. “Licking County’s large pool of manufacturing workers is well-prepared to bring their skills to the new positions offered by Ohio Pack.”
The company plans to hire workers for the new facility in 2018.
