Concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients producer The Mosaic Company announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to Hillsborough County in Florida on Monday, though the company did not detail a timeframe for the move.
Currently based in Plymouth, MN, Mosaic said the relocation of its headquarters offers the company long-term cost savings and the opportunity to expand its business in central Florida. The company said the new office will be closer to Mosaic Fertilizantes, a newly-acquired Brazil-based business, and its operations in the Americas.
“Mosaic is among the largest employers and most significant corporate economic drivers in central Florida,” the firm’s president and chief executive officer Joc O’Rourke said in a statement. “We believe locating our corporate office there will give us opportunities to amplify Mosaic’s presence and engage more closely with the communities where we operate. With the cost savings we expect to achieve and the closer proximity to our Mosaic Fertilizantes business in Brazil, this move will drive improved efficiency and good value.”
Two additional locations in Florida and the office in Minnesota will close as a result of the relocation. Mosaic said the number of its employees that will transfer to the new headquarters remains uncertain.
“We will execute this move with as little disruption as possible and with sensitivity to our employees’ personal situations,” O’Rourke said. “Mosaic is fortunate to have a deeply talented workforce, and we fully intend to maintain that competitive advantage.”
