One of North America’s leading makers of household paper goods and baby diapers, Irving Consumer Products, is investing $400 million to build a production facility in Macon, GA, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced Wednesday.
Expected to create some 200 jobs, the manufacturing plant will produce tissue products. Irving Consumer Products, based in Dieppe in Canada’s New Brunswick province, expects the project to wrap up in 2019.
“Selecting Macon for our new facility provides us with an opportunity to establish a footprint in a region that has proven itself as being a strong supporter of business. It will allow us to reach key markets, and will help to continue to drive our growth,” Robert K. Irving, the firm’s president, said in a statement.
The Macon plant will contain 700,000-sq-ft of space on a 136-acre site in the Sofkee Industrial Park, according to a report by the Macon Telegraph.
The company produces private label household paper products and diapers sold by major North American retailers.
