Using Particle Size & Shape Analysis to Solve Powder Challenges

March 5, 2014

Solving Powder Challenges Using Particle Size and Particle Shape Analysis, a featured Technology Workshop at the fast-approaching Powder & Bulk Solids Conference, will be held Tuesday, May 6, 3:15pm-4:45pm.

Measuring the particle size and shape of powders is a common requirement for the development and quality control of countless products. This workshop will feature two technologies -- laser diffraction and dynamic image analysis -- to explore challenges associated with powder measurement including sampling, data interpretation, data quality, and verification.

Led by Ian Treviranus, product line manager, particle characterization, Horiba Instruments Inc., this workshop is suitable for anyone wishing to make higher quality powder size and/or shape measurements.

"My workshop will focus on how to use particle size and particle shape analysis to control and troubleshoot powder characteristics such as flow, mixing, compaction, agglomeration/aggregation, and dust generation," says Treviranus. "Laser diffraction and dynamic image analysis technologies will be demonstrated to show how easily actionable results are created in only a few minutes."
