Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing has launched the new “Screw Conveyor Components & Design Manual Version 2.20.” This new manual allows users to conveniently calculate the type of industrial screw conveyor to best suit their specific needs.
“Partnering with our customers by allowing them a tool to design their own system results in a collaborative effort and a better final product,” said Jeff Baxter, director of operations at Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing.
By using the following steps, in conjunction with the coordinating tables and graphs, manual users will be able to estimate the specifications for a horizontal screw conveyor:
• Establish conveying requirements
• Identify the material and the corresponding material code
• Determine conveying capacity, conveyor size, and speed
• Calculate required horsepower, select motor size
• Determine the recommended size of components
• Check torsional ratings of components
• Check deflection, thermal expansion, and abrasion
After the initial screw conveyor design is completed, Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing can then provide a more thorough design, including stress analysis, etc., that are beyond the scope of this engineering section. Final specifications should be established with the assistance of Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing’s engineering department. Customers who do not wish to perform these calculations will still have the option of simply filling out a spec sheet and the design will be completed for them.
