Utilizing the loss-on-drying technique that heats the sample with microwave radiation in just 40 to 120 seconds, the LMA200PM moisture analyzer delivers precise results. This technique has proved to be the fastest and most effective drying method, particularly for materials that contain a high proportion of water. At the same time, the unit’s integrated analytical weighing system, with a resolution of 0.1 mg, ensures high accuracy for determining wet and dry weights of the sample that form the basis for calculation of loss on drying.

Multiple Constituent Sensor
Powders and bulk solids undergo a combination of refining, washing, mixing, and drying operations during processing. The efficiency of these procedures impacts not only utility costs, but also the rate and volume of output. With soaring energy costs, processors require tighter control. Near-infrared technology is well suited for powder and bulk solid applications. It is a noncontact and nondestructive method, and is designed to measure continuously. The MCT 360 can be installed over conveyors, incline chutes, and fluid-bed dryers, using a viewing window, probe, or a powder-sampling device to ensure good product presentation.

On-Line Moisture Analyzer
To determine moisture on a continuous basis, the Model BSP-901 moisture and control system uses the principle of comparing reflected energy at two near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. A stabilized infrared source is focused on the material to be measured, and reflected energy is filtered at two different wavelengths—one calibrated specifically for moisture and the other as a reference. The ratio of the two signals is derived electronically, and the resulting moisture content is presented on the digital display. This noncontact NIR technique can measure near-surface moisture in a wide range of applications.

The Model IR 3000 moisture sensor has been developed for instant, noncontact analysis of powder and granular materials in harsh environments. The instrument offers accuracy and stability, and it is insensitive to material variations such as particle size and material height. Using a new patented optical technique, the at-line, laboratory Model 858 moisture analyzer is designed to measure samples within a few seconds at accuracies to within ±0.1%. The instrument is ideal for QC laboratories and on-line within production manufacturing facilities.
