Sugar Drying System
This sugar drying system combines a vibrating fluid bed dryer, cooler, classifier, and integral baghouse collector, all featuring 100% sanitary stainless steel construction for both structural and product contact areas, to thrive during frequent washdowns, resist corrosion, and minimize maintenance requirements. Engineered to safely process raw sugar, white sugar, brown sugar, sanding sugar, and other sugars to a choice of particle sizes, the system includes a sealed design that sets the baghouse directly atop the dryer to capture fine particles entrained in the airstream and return them to the process as finished product without allowing any to escape as ambient dust, while eliminating the need for dust collection equipment. This placement also captures the heated process air and recycles it back to the process to save energy and reduce the volume of air exhausted to the environment. The system includes an automated explosion-suppression system, statically grounded baghouse, reinforced, 12-gauge stainless steel, and 25% more clamps than on standard designs for added force in joining covers, pans, and panels. Mixer and Jacket Vacuum Dryer
The Ploughshare mixer and jacket vacuum dryer features: a large access door for full access to the vessel interior; vessel designed and constructed for full vacuum operation; a fully stayed, 90 psig @ 330°F, ASME code constructed, 304 stainless steel jacket of labyrinth design to insure uniform flow for heating and/or cooling; simplifies the task of cleaning difficult applications; reduces downtime for cleaning; provides better discharge capabilities with optional dual discharges or oversize discharge doors; provides a better solution that addresses cross contamination. Rotary Calciners
Custom designed to meet processing requirements, Bartlett-Snow indirectly heated rotary calciners provide a means for continuously processing granular materials and powders at high temperatures, up to 1200ºC in metal retorts and to 1600ºC with ceramic retorts, under oxidizing, inert, or reducing atmospheres. The rotary calciner design consists principally of an inclined rotating cylinder that is enclosed in a furnace along its active length, featuring gas, oil, dual-fuel burners, or electric heating elements. Available in sizes from 6 to 120 in. in diameter, these units can be equipped with gas-tight seals that prevent interchange between the internal atmosphere and local ambient conditions. Special internal flight design promotes gentle tumbling action and provides for uniform exposure and efficient heat transfer. Dewatering-Drying System
This dewatering-drying system consists of a 30-in.-diam circular vibratory screener that removes oversize and undersize particles and up to 50 gal of water per minute, integrated with a 40-in.-diam circular fluid bed dryer that dries up to 700 lb of on-size particles/hr. The screener’s vibratory action causes oversize particles to discharge through a spout at the upper screen’s periphery, on-size pellets to discharge through an extended spout at the lower screen’s periphery, and undersize fines and water passing through the lower screen to discharge through a third spout. Circular (versus rectangular) configuration of the fluid bed dryer consolidates system components, eliminates the need for heavy-gauge walls and braces, has fewer weld seams, cuts cleaning time 50+%, allows downsizing of vibratory motors, requires only one air inlet and outlet, and reduces cost, especially when finished to 3-A, FDA, and BISSC standards. Mixer/Dryer/Cooler
The Bella Series 543 mixer/dryer/cooler offers an improved method for drying or cooling powders, granulates, and filter cakes. The dryer can be used for drying, mixing, spraying, agglomerating, and cooling in the same unit without additional equipment or costs. Operation is efficient because air flows around material while it is suspended in the weightless zone of the mixer. This maximizes the total surface that is exposed to the air, increasing the desired effect. The drying process will go through an adiabatic evaporation with thermal efficiency at about 80 percent. Only small air volumes are required compared with other fluidizing dryers. Benefits include better air distribution which increases drying/cooling efficiency; homogeneous mixing during the drying/cooling process; low air volume reduces filter requirements, rotating paddles prevent material lumping and air channels; increased air contact creates better thermal efficiency. Thermal Processor
This sealed tank design heat treater is the first to be placed in commercial operation to practice PMET’s patented process technology for the recovery of mercury from powdered activated carbon used to remove mercury from flue gases. After processing, the stripped carbon can be reused as a sorbent many times, reducing the cost of PAC usage. Mercury is recovered as a saleable metal product. No secondary waste streams are generated in the process with this technology. The unit includes an internal electrical heating system to provide the heat to remove the residual mercury. A small purge of dry nitrogen is used to purge the vapor from the system, keeping fines carryover to a minimum. Wyssmont Company, Inc., Fort Lee, NJ 201-947-4600 www.wyssmont.com

RF Drying System
The Macrowave RF drying system uses RF energy to uniformly heat filter cake material and rapidly remove the water without overheating, at a fraction of the time and expense associated with conventional dryers. The system rapidly removes water from filter cake material using energy applied by radio waves at a frequency of 40.68 MHz. Featuring volumetric heating that provides instantaneous and uniform heating throughout the filter cake and prevents overheating, the system is available in both batch and conveyorized configurations. Indirect Vacuum Dryer
This indirect vacuum dryer is capable of drying most solid materials to less than 0.5% moisture. The drying process is based on plow mixing technology, providing a mechanically fluidized bed of material to maximize product contact with the reactor vessel. The dryer can be operated at atmosphere to dry shear-sensitive materials that are not limited by temperature. If the material requires a short cycle time, or is temperature sensitive, vacuum technology is implemented. High-speed choppers are available for deagglomerating lumps, ensuring maximum surface area exposure of the material to the process.
